The Day of the Two Immaculate Ones – the Prophet of Islam and Imam Hasan

On the 28th of the month of Safar according to the Hijra, the day of the death of the Prophet of Islam and the second Imam Hasan. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) knew about the end of his life in advance and therefore warned Muslims about it many times. The purpose of these warnings was to prevent various surprises related to his death.

The 67th verse of Sura “Meals” of the Holy Qur’an, revealed during the farewell Hajj of the Prophet (pbuh), is “About the Messenger! Bring together what has been sent down to you from your Lord. If you do not do this, you will not deliver His message. Allah will protect you from people. Verily, Allah does not guide unbelieving people to the straight path”, – the end of the prophetic mission of Muhammad (pbuh) is announced.

About 80 days before the death of the Prophet of Islam (pbuh), during the farewell Hajj in the Ghadir Khum valley, speaking before 100 thousand Muslims, the Prophet (pbuh) announced his imminent death, recalling an important testament: “I leave among you two things, if you stick to them, you will never go astray, these are the Qur’an and the Ahl al-Bayt.” The Prophet of Islam (pbuh) died on the 28th of the month of Safar in the year 11 of the Hijra at noon.

The beloved grandson of the Prophet (s), the eldest son of Imam Ali (a) and the daughter of the Prophet (a) Fatima (s. a), the second Imam of the Muslims, Hassan (a) was born in the third year of the lunar Hijra on the 15th day of the Holy month of Ramazan in Medina.

After his father became a martyr, he was the Imam of the Muslims for about 10 years, in the 50th year of the Hijra he was poisoned as a result of the machinations of Muawiyah. Imam Hasan (a) is buried in the Bagha cemetery in Madinah.
