Erdogan: Black Sea gas will cover 30% of Turkey’s needs

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the ceremony for the beginning of the flow of natural gas from the Black Sea fields to the Turkish energy system.
“We completed this project in a record 32 months. Today, Turkey has taken a huge step towards energy independence,” Anadolu quoted the head of state as saying.
The President of Turkey announced that 10 million cubic meters of gas per day will be extracted from the Sakarya field in the first stage, and 40 million cubic meters per day in the second stage.
Erdogan emphasized that “Black Sea natural gas will cover 30% of Turkey’s needs.” “Furthermore, thanks to the project, we are turning Filos and Zonguldak into an important energy and technological base,” he noted.
