Birth Anniversary of Imam Kazim
The 20th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic lunar calendar fell on June 6 this year according to the Gregorian calendar. This day is respectfully commemorated throughout the Islamic world as the birth anniversary of the Seventh Imam, Imam Musa al-Kazim.
Imam Musa al-Kazim was born in 128 AH and became renowned for his knowledge, piety, patience, and devotion to worship. He was the son of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq and the father of Imam al-Ridha. The title “al-Kazim” was given to him because of his ability to restrain his anger and his forgiving attitude toward others. Imam Kazim spent a significant part of his life in the prisons of the Abbasid caliphs and was ultimately martyred there. His blessed shrine is located in the Kazimayn district of Baghdad, Iraq.
On the occasion of his birth anniversary, religious gatherings are held in various countries, and believers reflect upon the Imam’s life, scholarly legacy, and spiritual teachings. This significant day serves as a reminder to the Muslim community of the importance of patience, justice, mercy, and steadfastness in the path of Allah.
