The Holy Month of Ramadan Has Begun
On February 19, Muslims around the world welcomed the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan — a time of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and holds special significance in the lives of believers.
Throughout this month, Muslims observe an obligatory fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from food, drink, and worldly desires. The primary purpose of fasting is to strengthen God-consciousness, self-discipline, and compassion for others.
According to Islamic tradition, it was during this month that the Holy Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Believers dedicate more time to reciting the Qur’an, performing additional prayers, and engaging in charitable acts.
Ramadan is not only a period of abstinence, but also a time of spiritual renewal, strengthening faith, and fostering solidarity within communities.
