The Birth of Imam Hasan al-Askari

Today, on the 8th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, the birth of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) is commemorated. He was born in 232 AH in Medina. After the martyrdom of his father, Imam Ali al-Hadi (peace be upon him), he assumed the Imamate at the age of 22.

Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) lived under the strict supervision of the Abbasid caliphs in Samarra. He is also the father of the Occulted Imam, Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance).

The life of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) came to an end at the age of 28. Despite his short life, he left a profound legacy in Islamic history.
