Imam Sajjad
Imam Ali ibn Husayn, also known as Imam Zayn al-Abidin (the ornament of the worshipers), was the fourth Imam. Years of life: c. 658–713 (38–95)
His father was Imam Husayn ibn Ali (grandson of the Prophet Muhammad) He is an eyewitness to the tragedy of Karbala: He survived the Battle of Karbala, but did not participate in the battle because he was ill. After Karbala, he was captured.
He lived in difficult political times, and chose the path of spiritual education and prayer. His main contribution is the book “Sahifa Sajjadiya”, a collection of deep spiritual prayers and instructions.
He was famous for his fear of God, deep piety and concern for the poor. According to legend, on the 25th day of the month of Muharram in the year 95 Hijri, he was poisoned by order of the Caliph Walid ibn Abdul-Malik. He was buried in Medina, in the cemetery of Baqi next to other imams.
