Fatimiyyah days
During these days, the Muslim world commemorates the death of the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, the Lady of the Women of Paradise, Fatimah Zahra. She passed away in the 11th year of the Hijra, just 75 or 95 days after the death of her father, Prophet Muhammad. Her death is observed on two different days: the 13th of Jumada al-Awwal or the 3rd of Jumada al-Thani.
Fatimah Zahra lost her mother in childhood and her father at the age of 18. After his death, she protested against the injustices that occurred during that period, as well as the disregard for the divine command given on the day of Ghadir Khumm. During this time, she suffered an injury, which worsened her condition, leading to her passing.
Fatimah Zahra was not only the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad but also one of the greatest figures in Islam, the wife of Imam Ali, and the mother of Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn. She is mentioned in the Qur’an, with references in certain verses and a surah. Prophet Muhammad also said numerous hadiths praising her virtues.
The days of mourning for Fatimah Zahra are called “Ayam-i Fatimiyyah” — “Fatimiyyah days”, during which Muslims remember her sacrifice, courage, and significance in Islam.
