Eid al-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday marking the end of the month of Ramadan. It is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar and is welcomed by Muslims with great joy and enthusiasm.
In 2026, Eid al-Fitr fell on March 21, coinciding with Novruz, a traditional spring festival celebrated by many Eastern peoples. Thus, Muslims had the opportunity to celebrate two holidays simultaneously this year.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the two major holidays in Islam (the other being Eid al-Adha) and is observed with a special congregational prayer, the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, visiting relatives, and strengthening social solidarity.
