Death of the Prophet of Islam

The Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him), passed away on the 28th of Safar in the 11th year of Hijra. Muslims commemorate this day every year with mourning and grief.

The Prophet passed away at the age of 63 in his house in Medina. All funeral rites were carried out by his cousin, son-in-law, faithful companion, and the successor appointed at Ghadir Khumm — Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him).

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) left several important instructions for his Ummah. Among the most important are:

  1. To free slaves, thereby bringing an end to slavery;
  2. To pay special attention to prayer and perform it on time;
  3. To never deviate from the path of truth and remain faithful to the principles of Islam.

The death of the Prophet of Islam was a great loss for the Muslim Ummah, yet his legacy, mission, and guidance continue to serve as a guiding light for humanity.
