Iraq Census Results
The results of the Iraqi census have been announced. This was the first census in 27 years, Al-Arabiya reports. The last time it was conducted was in 1997. Despite the wars that have raged in the country over the past decades and claimed the lives of more than a million people, the country’s population is growing rapidly. According to the census, 45 million 400 thousand people currently live in Iraq. These figures exceeded the expectations of sociologists and government officials, who estimated the country’s population at about 43 million and planned the budget based on this.
